This is my printable MEDDPICC discovery guide: a short, call-ready companion you can keep open on calls.

What’s in the guide

  • Before you get started: three rules for using it without turning discovery into an interrogation.
  • A section for every element: Metrics, Economic Buyer, Decision Criteria, Decision Process, Paper Process, Implicate Pain, Champion and Competition. Each opens with what that element is really for, then lists the questions to uncover it.
  • Coaching notes where sellers usually go wrong, like the difference between identifying pain and implicating it, and why “champion” is the most misused word in sales.

Three rules for using it

  1. MEDDPICC isn’t a sales process. Don’t follow it letter by letter. Use the guide to check what you haven’t asked yet.
  2. Discovery isn’t one call. Ask a mix where appropriate. You’ll get to all of them over the life of the deal, not in the first meeting.
  3. Questions without grading become a checklist. Gathering answers isn’t the same as validating them. Grade each element red, yellow or green on evidence with the Color Coding Cheat Sheet.

Questions

Should I ask every question on the first call?

No. Discovery isn't a stage, it's an ongoing process. Ask some where they fit naturally, and cover the rest as the deal progresses.

Is MEDDPICC a sales process?

No. Don't follow it letter by letter. Use it to ask yourself, "Have I asked these questions?" If not, find a natural place to ask.

Does this work for MEDDIC and MEDDICC?

Yes. The guide covers every element of MEDDIC, MEDDICC and MEDDPICC. Skip Paper Process if you run MEDDICC, and Paper Process and Competition if you run MEDDIC.
